Rigobert Song is chosen as the Central African Republic’s head coach

Cameroonian football star Rigobert Song has been announced as the next head coach of the Central African Republic (CAR) national team.

The former Cameroonian head coach signed a two-year contract on Monday at a press conference attended by CAR’s Minister of Sports.

The Central African Football Federation (FCF) officials were absent from the occasion because they oppose Song’s appointment.

“Rigobert Song Bahanag signed a two-year, renewable contract with the Minister of Sports to coach the Fauves on March 3, 2025,” a report on Soutien aux fauves 236 stated.

“His compensation is estimated at FCFA 4,500,000. The Central African Football Club (@fcf.officiel) was not notified of this signing.”

CAR is set to face Madagacar and Mali later this month in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifications.
