North Korea sends additional troops to Russia in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine

South Korean intelligence claims that North Korea has increased the number of its troops stationed in the Kursk region of Russia.

According to South Korean media sources on Thursday, North Korea has sent more troops to Russia, however it is yet unknown how many people would be there.

According to the reports, which cite the nation’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), the recently deployed forces have been transferred to the Kursk region of Russia, where Russian troops are fighting Ukrainian forces who have crossed the border into western Russia.

More than 11,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia to help fight Ukraine, according to earlier reports from the NIS. Russian soldiers have also allegedly deployed North Korean weapons in the battle, according to Ukrainian officials and Western experts.

North Korea has not formally admitted its military backing for Russia in spite of these claims. Calls for more information about the most recent deployment were not answered by the NIS spokesperson’s office.
