Pope Francis is in the hospital, and Argentinians in Rome are praying for him

The Vatican claimed on Wednesday that Pope Francis is getting enough sleep while battling double pneumonia. An official also stated that Francis is still eating regularly and is able to roam around his hospital room.

This is the 88-year-old pope’s thirteenth day in the hospital at Gemelli in Rome, the longest hospital stay in his nearly 12-year papacy.

“The pope had a tranquil night and is resting,” the Vatican announced in a brief statement without any additional information.

Francis was able to roam around his hospital room and eat regularly, according to a Vatican official who asked not to be named because he was not allowed to discuss the pope’s condition.

Although the pope remained in serious condition for the fourth consecutive day, the Vatican stated on Tuesday that he was stable and had not experienced any more respiratory episodes.

On Tuesday, it stated that the pope’s prognosis is still “guarded”. His hemodynamic parameters, which gauge how well his body’s circulatory system was working, were “stable” as well.

The first Catholic pope from the Americas, Francis, is originally from Argentina and has been pope since 2013. Argentinians in Rome flocked to the Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Tuesday night to offer prayers for him.

“We pray for his health, that he can continue to govern the Church,” stated Reverend Mario Aler, speaking of the Catholic Holy Year that is currently in progress in 2025. “(Francis) should continue to accompany this important event for the whole Church,” he added.

“A great leader, without a doubt” is how Romina Taboada Tonina, the ambassador of Paraguay to the Vatican, described the pope while she was at the service.

“Not only for Catholics, but he is a great political leader as well,” she added.

On Tuesday night, pilgrims and high-ranking Church officials attended a prayer session in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, where hundreds of people gathered. Every day this week, the service is being repeated.

POPE IS WORKING FROM THE HOSPITAL AGAIN.

Inflammation and scarring of both lungs can result from double pneumonia, a dangerous infection that makes breathing difficult. The pope’s ailment is “complex,” according to the Vatican, and is brought on by two or more microbes.

Francis, who has been pope since 2013, has experienced multiple health setbacks in the last two years. Because he suffered pleurisy as a young adult and had a portion of one lung removed, he is susceptible to lung infections.

On Wednesday night, another update on the pope’s health is anticipated. Details from a CT scan the pope got on Tuesday to keep an eye on his pneumonia might be revealed.

As Vatican business continues to move forward despite Francis’ infirmity, he has been working from the hospital on occasion. A number of fresh appointments that would have required the pope’s permission were revealed by the Vatican on Wednesday.
