Songwriter Files $15M Suit Against Burna Boy’s Girlfriend Chloe Bailey

Chlöe Bailey is facing a $15 million lawsuit for allegedly “exploiting” a songwriter who wrote songs for her 2024 album “Trouble In Paradise.”

On Thursday, 20.02.25, Melvin Moore, commonly known as 4Rest, filed a copyright infringement action against Bailey, Sony Music, Parkwood Entertainment, and Columbia Records in New York.

He claimed in court documents that his contributions to the songs “Same Lingerie,” “Favorite,” and “Might As Well” were not “appropriately credited or compensated.”

Moore has charged the organizations with civil conspiracy, deceptive business practices, false misrepresentation, and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

“Time and again, our team made good faith efforts to settle the issue of [Bailey, Parkwood, and Columbia’s] illegal commercial exploitation,” he said.

He now wants $150,000 for each infringement and $5 million for damages per song.

In the 33-page report, Moore stated: “It’s time for the industry to recognize the worth of the creatives who make the music come to life and fairly compensate them.”

Since she is “ordained” by her religious views, Bailey, who is presently dating Nigerian musician Burna Boy, has previously stated that she chooses to “ignore” any criticism her songs may receive.

Last year, Audacy stated on her “V-103” podcast: “I always just wanna let the music speak for itself.” To be honest, I’m accustomed to it because people always find something to say about whatever I do. I decide to disregard it. It is up to me to decide what I focus on and how much effort I put into it, and everyone has the right to free speech and their own opinions. I’m living in my purpose and everything I do is predetermined by God; anyone who has an issue with that is welcome to kiss my booty.
