Russia claims the most recent UK sanctions are “illegitimate”
Britain’s fresh sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine were deemed “illegitimate” by Russia’s embassy in London, which also noted that many of the targets had no involvement in the conflict.
In what it described as its biggest set of penalties against Russia since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Britain on Monday named businesses all around the world that provide parts to the Russian military.
The Russian embassy described the actions as “futile” in a Facebook message on Tuesday.
“The moment chosen by London to whip up the sanctions hysteria is quite symbolic — at a delicate time when the foundations of the future Ukraine settlement process are being shaped in line with the Russia-US agreements,” stated the statement.
In addition, North Korean military minister No Kwang Chol and Kyrgyz bank Keremet Bank were singled out in Britain’s sanctions package, which coincided with the third anniversary of the Russian invasion.
