Rihanna Rejects Reggae Record Suggestions
Rihanna has stated that it is “way off” that her next album will be a reggae record.
The “Diamonds” hitmaker, who hasn’t put out an album since “Anti” in 2016, said that she has had trouble coming up with the “right” sound for her much anticipated ninth album and that the longer she has worked on it, the more she believes it must “matter” and be “worth” the wait.
In response to rumors that she had recorded a reggae song, she told the British magazine Harper’s Bazaar’s latest issue: “Go ahead! Now, there is no genre. I waited for that reason.
“Each time, I simply said, ‘No, it’s not me. It is incorrect. It doesn’t keep up with my development. It doesn’t correspond with my development. I am unable to do this. This is unacceptable to me. I can’t go on tour for a year doing this.
“I looked at it after a while and thought, ‘This much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears.'” It must be significant. It must be important. I must demonstrate to them the value of waiting. I am unable to post something mediocre. You might as well wait a little longer after eight years.
Rihanna, however, believes she has “cracked the code” on her future as a musician.
“I think music is my freedom,” she remarked. That realization just dawned on me. I’ve finally figured out what I truly want to do for my upcoming body of work.
The 37-year-old celebrity loves her most recent album and prefers listening to “Anti” over her past albums.
“I listen to ‘Anti’ from beginning to end without feeling guilty,” she declared. To read more, scroll.
“I used to feel ashamed all the time. Although I don’t particularly enjoy listening to my music, I can listen to the album “Anti.” If I’m just listening to it, it’s not me singing it.
“I can have an out-of-body experience with that album, and it’s not like…You know how it feels to hear your voicemail and say, “Ugh.”
