Osimhen of Galatasaray sustains an injury prior to Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match
Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian superstar, sustained an injury prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches next month.
Under new head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles will play the Wasps of Rwanda away and the Warriors of Zimbabwe at home.
In Monday night’s goalless draw between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, Osimhen, Nigeria’s top striker, was replaced in the 89th minute.
Yener İnce, the team doctor for Galatasaray, has now verified that the switch was made due to an injury.
On Habersarikirmizi.com, the 55-year-old stated, “We shall see; it will be evident tomorrow.”
With 23 goals in 39 appearances, the 26-year-old is presently the Super Eagles’ second-highest goalscorer all-time.
With 37 goals in 62 caps, Osimhen is the only player to have more goals for Nigeria than Rashidi Yekini.
