Jose Chameleone’s letter of demand for Sh100 million for defamation

Jose Chameleone, following severe accusations, requests 100 million.

Since the end of the previous year, Chameleone has been ill.

A cease-and-desist letter was sent by Jose Chameleone to Janie Namukasa, a Ugandan blogger, after she circulated claims that the musician had been imprisoned in the United States. According to Namukasa, a disagreement with his companion and caretaker Juliet Zewedde led to Chameleone’s imprisonment.

The musician asks in the letter a public apology and 100 million Ugandan shillings, or roughly Ksh. 3,523,865 million.

“It has come to our client’s attention that on the 18th day of February 2025, you made false and malicious statements in a video against him through your social media handle,” stated a portion of the legal letter.

The tiktoker/blogger has been given five days to issue an apology on the same medium where the offensive statement was posted.

Following the accusations, Chameleone posted on social media to let fans know he was in the hospital getting treatment.

“Thank you for your prayers and kindness while I’m in the hospital for surgery. We’ll be all right in the name of Jesus.

Since his hospital admission in Uganda towards the end of last year, Chameleone has been ill. He was subsequently sent to the United States for more medical treatment.

He thanked his fans in a statement at the time.

I’m celebrating this holiday season for the first time, away from the stage and from all of you, my cherished fans. Sadly, my hospital stay has interfered with our yearly custom of sharing music to celebrate.

My sincere appreciation goes out to the promoters who have always had faith in me and the fans who have always come out to cheer me on. I regret to inform you that until I fully recuperate, I will be taking a temporary hiatus from performing.

My fans, friends, and family showered me with love, prayers, and well wishes during my hospital stay, for which I am incredibly grateful. I also value the outstanding treatment I had at Nakasero Hospital.

My great friend Juliet Zawedde, who generously gave up her vacation to travel with me to the United States for additional treatment, deserves a special thank you.

I express my gratitude to all those who have supported me. With God’s grace, I’ll be back stronger and better.

For God and my nation.

Jose reportedly has acute pancreatis.

After his father was admitted to the hospital on December 12, 2024, after becoming unexpectedly ill, his son, Abba Marcus, revealed the news via a TikTok video.

According to Marcus, his father’s lengthy struggle with alcoholism has resulted in significant health issues, such as weight loss. Additionally, doctors have warned him of his remaining days if he disregards their medical recommendations to cease drinking.

Additionally, Marcus protected Daniella Atim, his mother, from unjustified accusations. Jose Chameleon and Daniella are no longer together; Daniella has since moved to the United States.
