ANSA Reports Pope Francis Has His Third Calm Night in the Hospital
ANSA reports that Pope Francis has been stable and spent a third consecutive night in the hospital without incident.
Pope Francis, who is undergoing treatment for a respiratory tract infection, spent a peaceful night in hospital, Italy’s ANSA news agency reported on Monday, citing sources close to the facility.
On Friday morning, the 88-year-old pope was brought to Rome’s Gemelli hospital after suffering from bronchitis for more than a week.
On Sunday, Francis was unable to deliver his usual prayer to pilgrims in St Peter’s Square or lead a special mass for artists, which was organized as part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year celebrations.
“Thank you for the affection, prayer, and closeness with which you are accompanying me in these days,” Pope Francis wrote on X on Sunday.
