Sir Alex Ferguson returns to the bench for a unique occasion
Sir Alex Ferguson will make a temporary comeback to the dugout more than ten years after he retired from managing. The renowned Manchester United coach, who retired in 2013 following a stellar career, will assist in overseeing a final game for former Red Devils striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Rossi has personally confirmed Ferguson’s participation in the match, which is set for March 22 in Florence.
“As a coach, Ferguson will be present. When I joined United at the age of 17, he was my first coach. He accepted my invitation right away, even though we didn’t play much throughout our brief three-year relationship. That demonstrates his character. Rossi told The Sun, “He treats me with the same respect as Cristiano Ronaldo, even though I didn’t have a long career at United.”
Ferguson, who is now 83, has significant links to football even though Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s restructuring just ended his paid advisory position at United. His attendance in Rossi’s final game will be an appropriate homage to the adoration and respect he inspires among players of all eras.
