Rwandan passport holders will no longer need a visa thanks to Qatar

Rwandan ordinary passport holders can enter the country freely thanks to a draft agreement on mutual visa waivers agreed by the Qatari government.

On Wednesday, February 12, at the weekly meeting of the Qatar Cabinet, this was agreed.

Rwandan nationals could only enter Qatar without a visa for a maximum of 30 days in the past.

All nations that are members of the African Union, the Commonwealth, La Francophonie, and the East African Community are excluded from Rwanda’s visa requirements.

ICT, aviation, and defense and security are just a few of the areas where Rwanda and Qatar have experienced successful collaboration.

During his visit to the Middle Eastern nation, President Paul Kagame met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Wednesday.

The two leaders spoke about the ongoing collaboration in important areas and the good bilateral ties between Rwanda and Qatar.

In both passenger and cargo operations, Qatar Airways and RwandAir collaborate. The $2 billion airport being built in Bugesera is another project in which the Qatari airline has made investments.

It is planned to be finished in 2028, and Qatar Airways will own 60% of the airport.

According to developers, the airport’s main terminal structure, which will be 130,000 square meters in size, would be able to handle eight million people annually, with the number likely to increase to around 14 million in the ensuing decades.
