Nipsey Hussle’s former girlfriend’s request is denied prior to his in-court dispute with his family
Tanisha Foster, Nipsey Hussle’s ex-girlfriend, has encountered a snag in her protracted legal dispute with his family.
Weeks before their legal battle over Emani’s guardianship begins, Tanisha’s plea to interrogate Sam Asghedom, the late rapper’s brother, was denied by a judge.
This legal battle has been simmering for a while. In an attempt to end the guardianship agreement that has existed since Nipsey Hussle’s passing, Tanisha Foster just filed a lawsuit.
In the guardianship dispute over Nipsey Hussle’s daughter, the judge rejects the request.
A judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court rejected Tanisha’s urgent request to depose Nipsey’s brother, which presented her with yet another challenge. According to court records, Tanisha’s petition was denied by the judge, who said:
“The Court finds that insufficient evidence has been provided to grant the matter on the calendar this date based upon the reading of the moving papers and consideration of all presented evidence.”
According to In Touch, the majority of the documents in this court case have been substantially redacted for more than a year. Tanisha has been pushing to have Nipsey’s family take over as Emani’s co-guardians since his untimely death on March 31, 2019, at the age of 33.
The issue is expected to escalate following months of legal back and forth. Emani’s guardianship will be decided during the trial, which is set for February 25.
The Reasons Behind Tanisha Foster’s Conflict With Her Ex’s Family Their Daughter For years, Tanisha has been embroiled in a legal battle over guardianship of her daughter Emani. She submitted a petition to end the guardianship back in 2022.
The single mother said that, at the time, she thought it would be best for her daughter to allow Nipsey’s family to take guardianship of Emani following his untimely death.
Her choice was motivated by her financial difficulties and her need to preserve the steady life their daughter had prior to the artist’s passing, according to court documents. Additionally, she asserted that she had verbal assurances that his family would behave in the best interests of her daughter.
Tanisha now contended, though, that such assurances had been betrayed. She claimed that Nipsey’s family had limited her visitation and financial support by abusing their wealth and power, which made it more difficult for her to be involved in Emani’s life. According to reports, Tanisha wrote in her petition:
“I have never experienced anything in my life that would prevent me from reclaiming my exclusive parental position for Emani. Emani frequently asks me when she and I will be able to share a home. As her mother, she longs to be with me. I am pleading with the court to end the current guardianship.
The ex-girlfriend of “The Marathon” hitmaker pushed for his brother to testify.
In her continuous battle for custody of her daughter, Tanisha took decisive action. According to The Blast, she submitted an urgent request earlier this month for Nipsey’s brother to testify, stating that his deposition is essential to her cause.
Her goal? to bolster her case before the trial on February 25 in which she intends to reverse the guardianship agreement that has maintained Emani in Nipsey’s family’s custody since 2019.
Tanisha formally requested Sam’s testimony on February 4 and pushed for a deposition the following week. Sam Smith, his sister Samantha Smith, and their mother, Angelique Smith, have been in charge of Nipsey’s estate since his untimely death.
The family of Nipsey Hussle fought to maintain custody of his daughter.
The dispute around Nipsey’s daughter has persisted, with his family adamant that they should be responsible for her. Since the beginning, they have maintained that giving Emani stability is their primary objective.
Concerns regarding Tanisha’s capacity to be an effective parent were raised when Samantha, Nipsey’s sister, filed a petition to become Emani’s legal guardian on the family’s behalf.
Samantha stressed in her submission how deeply committed she is to Emani’s welfare, emphasizing the value of maintaining her ties to Nipsey’s side of the family and making sure she stays in a safe and stable home setting.
Despite Tanisha’s initial resistance to the guardianship request, the court decided in favor of Nipsey’s relatives. They were formally designated as Emani’s legal guardians by a judge in October 2019.
Lauren London Preserves the Legacy of Her Late Partner While Raising Their Son The custody dispute between Tanisha and her daughter contrasts sharply with that of Lauren London, Nipsey’s second baby mama. Lauren appears to have raised their child successfully and without any legal issues after the rapper’s untimely death.
In addition to parenting her 13-year-old son, Kameron Carter, whom she shares with rapper Lil Wayne, the actress, who was Nipsey’s companion until his tragic death, has accepted the role of mother to their child.
Lauren has continuously upheld Nipsey’s legacy and preserved his memory for their kids, even though she was devastated to lose her spouse. In 2023, Lauren celebrated Nipsey’s posthumous 38th birthday by posting a touching homage on Instagram.
“Blessing the Earth with your presence, you honored the day. Forevermore. She included a picture of Nipsey wearing a white Puma jacket with the words, “I love you.”
