After Merseyside Derby Draw, Slot Receives Two-Match Touchline Ban

Arne Slot might face a hefty two-match touchline punishment after receiving a red card during Liverpool’s draw with Everton.

James Tarkowski’s late equalizer prompted Slot and his assistant, Spike Hulshoff, to confront referee Michael Oliver after the final whistle.

Despite Liverpool’s insistence that there had been a foul in the build-up, Oliver scored, and VAR upheld the decision.

Oliver issued the Dutchman a red card after they shook hands.

After his dismissal sparked controversy, the Premier League subsequently claimed that it was due to his use of “offensive, insulting, or abusive language.”

“Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was fired at the conclusion of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language,” the Premier League said in a statement.

“As a result, he receives a two-match touchline ban.”

There has been doubt as to whether that is indeed the case ever since the Premier League took the aforementioned statement down from their official website.

Mirror Football might have acted too soon because they know the FA is waiting for the referee’s report before making a decision.

After being sent off during Wednesday’s match, Slot was unable to fulfill his post-match media duties due to Premier League restrictions.

Jonny Heitinga, the coach of the first team, might be in charge when the ailing Wolves arrive on Sunday.

Additionally, Hulshoff may continue to play in that role for Wednesday’s trip to Aston Villa if he is also given a two-match suspension.

Curtis Jones of Liverpool was also sent off by Oliver for his part in inciting the heated argument that broke out after the game.

After Abdoulaye Doucoure of Everton had rejoiced in front of the Liverpool fans, Jones made fun of them by pushing him.
