Strange World: Women Talk More Than Men
Compared to males, women talk more.
A smaller difference than expected was found when experts at the University of Arizona recorded the speech of more than 2,000 people in an effort to identify the most talkative sex.
It was discovered that women uttered an average of 13,349 words per day, compared to 11,950 words per day for men.
The bowfins assert that the notion that women talk more than males is a “stereotype” that frequently has negative implications, regardless of the findings.
In a study that appeared in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, the researchers stated: “It is commonly believed that women are more chatty than males.
“This stereotype’s prevalence and frequently negative connotation make assessing its accuracy especially crucial.”
The researchers have suggested further research on sex-based spoken language contrasts, but the current study provides a greater understanding of gender and speech variances.
