Beyoncé is the first Black performer to win a Grammy for Best Country Album

When Beyonce won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album on Sunday, she was “in shock.”

At the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the 43-year-old singer walked the stage to collect Taylor Swift’s award for “Cowboy Carter.” She encouraged the audience to “be persistent” and not feel that they must limit themselves to a single genre because that is only a means to “keep us in our place.”
“I really wasn’t expecting this,” she remarked. Whoa.

“Oh, my God, I’m grateful that I can still do what I love after all these years! We put a lot of effort into this CD, and I want to thank all of the amazing country musicians that accepted it. Genre, in my opinion, may occasionally be a frigid word used to confine us to our position as artists and just inspire others to pursue their passions. and to continue being tenacious.

Whoa. Thank you to my lovely family and all the artists that worked with me; without you, this record would not have been possible. I’m still in disbelief and want to thank God and my followers once again.

In addition to Post Malone (‘F-1 Trillion’), Kacey Musgraves (‘Deeper Well’), Chris Stapleton (‘Higher’), and Lainey Wilson (‘Whirlwind’), Taylor had presented the candidates by recalling how she had won the honor herself “almost exactly 15 years ago.”

“Great artists that I greatly admire, such as the Chicks, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Allison Krauss, and Shania Twain, have received this honor,” she continued.

The Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance went to Miley Cyrus and Beyonce, the most successful artist in Grammy history, earlier in the evening for their performance on the Cowboy Carter song “II Most Wanted.”
