Dorgu, a Danish defender from Lecce, joins Manchester United
Manchester United announced on Sunday that it has signed 20-year-old Danish left-back Patrick Dorgu from Serie A team Lecce, Italy, on a deal that would last until 2030.
The deal was valued at 30 million euros ($31.1 million), according to British media, with an additional five million for performance-related add-ons.
Dorgu made 57 matches for the Italian squad since joining Lecce from Danish team Nordsjaelland in 2022.
“I cannot wait to work with (United manager) Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting,” Dorgu stated in a statement.
“There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”
Dorgu, who has four caps for his nation, was United’s second acquisition since Amorim took the place of Dutchman Erik ten Hag in November.
With just two wins in their previous five league games, United is sagging in 12th place in the Premier League standings.
