The Weeknd Releases “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” a New 22-Track Album
Lana Del Rey and Florence + the Machine both make cameos on The Weeknd’s latest album.
The “Blinding Lights” hitmaker has released “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” the last album in his critically praised dramatic “After Hours” trilogy. “Reflections Laughing,” which features Florence’s instantly identifiable ethereal vocals and frequent collaborator Travis Scott, is one of the album’s highlight tunes.
The Weeknd and Lana have worked together on a few songs, such as “Prisoner,” “Stargirl Interlude,” and “Lust for Life.” The “Video Games” hitmaker delivers one of her strongest vocal performances to date on the heart-stopping ballad “The Abyss.”
The Father of Disco is featured on the song “Big Sleep,” and The Weeknd, whose actual name is Abel Tesfaye, just posted a photo of himself in the studio with renowned Italian composer Giorgio Moroder on social media.
“Wake Me Up,” which features French EDM duo Justice, starts the massive 22-song album, which The Weeknd has hinted is his last album released under the name The Weeknd.
Additionally, Future, another frequent collaborator, makes an appearance on “Enjoy The Show.”
“Timeless” with Playboi Carti, “Dancing In The Flames,” and “São Paulo” with Brazilian pop sensation Anitta were among the previously released singles.
“Hurry Up Tomorrow” comes after “After Hours” in 2020 and “Dawn FM” in 2022.
In addition, the award-winning singer will co-star with Gabby Barrett, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan in a psychological thriller movie that shares the same title as the record, which comes out on May 16, 2025.
Recently, The Weeknd talked about why he could soon abandon his stage name and enter a new chapter of his career.
“I have to get into a mental state that I simply don’t have any more desire for,” the “Can’t Feel My Face” hitmaker told Variety. It seems to come with a lot of things. In addition to your character, you also have to contend with the competitors. More plaudits, more success, more concerts, more albums, more awards, and more number ones make it a rat race. Until you put an end to it, it never ends.
The singer believes he has already “mastered” The Weekend’s identity, but he has no plans to leave the music industry altogether.
“I don’t think I can stop doing that,” he thought. It must feel like a struggle, though. And whatever the Weeknd is at the moment, I’ve conquered it. I’m the only one who can do the Weeknd, and I won’t do it any better than it is now.
Since I adore this challenge, I believe I’ve conquered every obstacle in my role as this character, which is why I’m so thrilled about this movie. But all I want to know is what happens next. I’d like to know what tomorrow holds.
