Smith, an Eagles receiver, is optimistic about his prospects in the Chiefs rematch in the Super Bowl

Philadelphia receiver DeVonta Smith stated on Friday that he had no trouble putting aside his worries before the Eagles’ rematch in the Big Easy next month, despite the Chiefs having dashed their aspirations of winning the Super Bowl two years prior.

Eagles supporters are still in pain from their 38-35 loss to Philadelphia in Super Bowl 57, where Smith caught seven passes for 100 yards and Philadelphia lost a 10-point lead at the half.

Despite claiming to have played the game several times in his head, Smith, who grew up in the adjacent Louisiana town of Amite City, is remaining composed ahead of his home Super Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans.

“You think about it all the time, especially you know playing them again, playing the same team, you think about it,” Smith said to reporters. “It’s the next team trying to stop us from getting to our end goal.”

Although Smith’s hamstring was listed as the reason he missed Friday’s practice, he told reporters he will be well for the final on February 9.

“As long as we go out there, play our game, continuing to play football the way we’ve been playing it, we should come out successful,” Smith said.
