Too $hort Grieves For His Brother In “Very Heartbreaking” Video

Earlier this week, Too $hort’s brother was shot and died during an attempted heist.

In the wake of his brother Wayne Shaw’s passing, Too $hort posted a heartfelt video.

On Thursday, January 30, the 58-year-old posted a video of himself riding to the 1977 song “Angel” by the Ohio Players on Instagram. The rapper starts the video wearing black sunglasses. Then he raises them, exposing red eyes that are still dripping.

Despite not speaking in the video, the Hip-Hop veteran conveys strong emotions through the song’s lyrics. Fans and celebrities like Styles P, DJ Premier, Larry June, YoYo, Monica, and Terri J. Vaughn encourage him in the comments section.

The funk band in the background sings, “You put my life before your own/And you set my love upon a throne/Only someone from up above/Could ever give a man so much love.” “Real Tears” is the caption for the video.

Another Ohio Players song, “Pain,” is featured in a second video that Too $hort published. The caption reads, “Ain’t really replying to a lot of texts or answering calls right now.” I am unable to.

On Wednesday, Wayne Shaw was shot and died in what police think was an attempted robbery of his marijuana growing business.

Shaw was sixty-one. He also allegedly slept at the warehouse where a group of people allegedly attempted to break in with a car. When Shaw confronted the group, he was shot.

Nearby, investigators found a Honda Civic that was “bullet ridden.” There have been prior reports of the car being stolen. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821 or via a tip line at (510) 238-7950. Additionally, people can email images or videos to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
