Manchester United and Bayern Munich Make Contact Move Over Mathys Tel Loan
According to reports, Manchester United has contacted Bayern Munich about a possible loan agreement for Mathys Tel as they look at ways to bolster their striking squad. Tottenham Hotspur was first in the running to recruit the 19-year-old French forward, who has been linked to leaving the Bavarian powerhouses due to his lack of playing time.
According to reports, Tottenham and Bayern agreed on a €60 million (£50 million) transfer fee for Tel; however, talks have stalled, postponing a potential move to North London. In an attempt to find a short-term solution for the young forward as they work through their own transfer dilemma, Manchester United has entered the fray as the deal has stalled.
United’s desire to bolster their offense coincides with their want to unload players before making long-term signings due to budgetary and squad size issues. A loan agreement would give the Red Devils temporary attacking support without requiring them to make a big-money acquisition right away.
Under Vincent Kompany, Tel, who joined Bayern Munich from Rennes in 2022, has battled for regular playing time despite displaying flashes of his enormous ability. The teenage forward has had difficulty cracking into Bayern’s starting lineup due to competition from players like Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane.
Manchester United intends to strengthen their team while abiding with financial fair play rules, as seen by their approach for Tel. But if Tottenham can settle their ongoing talks with Bayern, they might have competition.
All eyes will be on United’s ability to sign Tel to a short-term contract or whether Spurs will ultimately complete their agreement for a permanent transfer as the January transfer window heats up.
