Isaiah Stewart of the Pistons was fined and suspended for a flagrant foul

After Isaiah Stewart, the forward-center for the Detroit Pistons, recorded his sixth flagrant foul point of the regular season, the NBA suspended him for one game without pay.

Stewart was given a flagrant foul 2 in the second quarter of the Pistons’ 133-119 away defeat to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

The call on Wednesday resulted in an automatic one-game suspension, which he will serve on Friday night when the Pistons visit the Dallas Mavericks, since he started the game with a season-high number of flagrant foul points.

In addition, Stewart, 23, received a $50,000 punishment for making “inappropriate and objectionable gestures” after being ejected, according to a news release from the NBA.

In 48 games (three starts) this season, the 6-foot-8 Stewart is averaging 5.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and a team-high 1.3 blocks.

After playing a career-high 30.9 minutes per game the previous season, Stewart, who is in his sixth season with the Pistons, is now averaging 20.3 minutes.
