Awinja and Osoro Take the Wheel in “Sumbua Sacco,” a New Comedy Series

On Friday, February 7th, Maisha Magic will debut a brand-new comedy series from Kenya called Sumbua Sacco.

The show centers on Awinja and Osoro, a broke but driven couple portrayed by Jackie Vike (Click Click Bang) and Cyprian Osoro (4 Better 4 Worse), and is set on the bustling Lumumba Estate. When Awinja wins a lot of money, they purchase a matatu, and their luck changes. They quickly discover themselves enmeshed in the chaotic matatu culture of Nairobi, though.

Awinja and Osoro deal with a plethora of difficulties, including impolite passengers, dishonest officials, and growing debt. Their audacity, tenacity, and amusing antics make the hustling of the matatu industry accessible and funny.

The show’s brilliant cast includes Humphrey Maina (Lies who Bind), Jimmy Ouma (Haki Mwitu), Kauthar Kang’ethe (Volume), and twins Nelly & Jane Wanjiku (Zora). It is produced by A-Wish Productions, the same group who produced Disco Matanga.

“The show began as an online skit with Awinja and Osoro, and after realizing the depth of stories in Matatu culture, we decided to make it a TV series,” says producer Lawrence Murage. It all comes down to providing entertainment and allowing the audience to enjoy the journey.
