Travis Kelce enjoys the perception of the Chiefs being villains
Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs, has no regrets about his team’s accomplishments.
As they compete for an unprecedented third consecutive championship in Super Bowl LIX, Kelce actually admitted this week on his “New Heights” podcast that the Chiefs have accepted the role of villains. What a fan desires one year may not be what they desire the next, according to Kelce.
“I love it,” remarked Kelce. That was not the case at one time. The ‘do you feel awful for ’em guys’ was me. I’m having fun doing this with the boys. The guys in there, as it simply strengthens our bonds as a family.”
The Philadelphia Eagles will try to defeat the Chiefs in a Super Bowl for the second time on February 9 in New Orleans. In Glendale, Arizona, they lost Super Bowl LVII by a score of 38–35.
But according to Kelce, he doesn’t want to place too much value on the outside noise.
And he added, “You just circle the wagons,” “When … people are saying whatever, they want, and you just band it together and it just makes you more appreciate more of what you have because people want what you have.”
This season, the 35-year-old Kelce was selected to his tenth consecutive Pro Bowl. In 16 starts during the regular season, he hauled in 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. In the playoffs, he has nine catches for 136 yards and one touchdown.
