Spurs were undone by their lack of focus, according to Skipper Son
Son Heung-min, the captain of Tottenham Hotspur, lamented his team’s lack of focus after Sunday’s 2-1 home loss to Leicester City and stated that they are attempting to ignore the noise in the face of a terrible run of results.
Leicester overcame a goal deficit to defeat Spurs, adding to the strain on manager Ange Postecoglou of the North London team, who has been battling a long list of injuries that includes striker Dominic Solanke, center backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Spurs are ranked 15th out of 20 clubs and have only won once in their last 11 Premier League games.
“It hurts so much. What am I supposed to say? Particularly when you’re leading at halftime and giving up two goals quickly. It’s a really annoying afternoon and it let us down,” Son told the BBC.
“We just finished the second half, so we can’t just state that we’re fatigued. Perhaps that was a little careless, but it’s not personal error. We just lack focus and are a little careless, and any club may penalize us in the Premier League standings.
“We make an effort to keep the team and group quiet. All we want is as many points as we can. There are still many games to play, and it will be really beneficial if we can get players back, especially the more seasoned ones.
On Thursday, Spurs will host IF Elfsborg of Sweden in the Europa League.
