A$AP Prosecutors Due to inquiries about Rihanna, the Rocky Trial turned off potential jurors; no Black jurors were chosen
Prosecutors want to make sure that any potential jurors’ Rihanna fanaticism won’t interfere with A$AP Rocky’s assault trial as it moves into opening statements.
Rocky rejected a plea agreement and decided to fight the gun charges he faces, therefore the jury selection process for his trial is now complete.
During the selection process, prospective jurors were questioned extensively about Rocky and his longterm girlfriend, Rihanna, according to TMZ. They were asked if they had heard of either star, listened to their music, or downloaded any of their tracks, according to reports.
According to the publication, prospective jurors were also questioned if they had purchased any of Rihanna’s goods, such as Savage X Fenty or Fenty Beauty. In addition, the prosecution questioned the jury pool about their ability to render an unbiased and equitable decision in the event that Rihanna was present in the courtroom.
The gender distribution of the jury, which has been chosen, is nearly equal: five males and seven women. But as TMZ noted, there isn’t a single Black juror, which is particularly strange considering how diverse Los Angeles is.
While the jurors chosen are white, Asian, and Hispanic, Rocky and the claimed victim are both Black.
None of the four alternate jurors chosen are Black; they are all female. “Those chosen include a woman who is an actor and podcast editor, and a man who has worked at Trader Joe’s for more than 20 years,” the AP reports. A retired judge is seated as the last alternate.
After the jurors are sworn in on Friday, opening remarks will start. Rocky rejected a plea deal from the prosecution that would have sentenced him to 180 days in prison, instead facing years in prison if convicted on two felony charges of assault with a semiautomatic handgun. His attorney claims he did not conduct any crimes, and he has entered a not guilty plea.
Rocky faces a maximum sentence of 24 years in jail when he stands trial for two charges of assault with a semiautomatic pistol.
Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, was allegedly shot three or four times by A$AP Rocky in 2021 when he was out on the streets of Hollywood.
Ephron said that his knuckles were slightly wounded by the bullets fired by his lifelong buddy. Rocky entered a not guilty plea. According to the rapper’s attorneys, he was just carrying a starter pistol, which he used as a prop, and not a real gun.
