Lupita Nyong’o of Kenya Applauds The Wild Robot’s Oscar Nomination

Based on the well-loved novel by Peter Brown, the film adaptation of The Wild Robot has drawn praise from the Academy and received three nominations for the 2019 Oscars.

Among the honors is a nomination for Best Animated Feature, which demonstrates the film’s creative excellence and poignant narrative.

The Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, who provides the voice of the title robot Roz, celebrated the milestone on social media and paid a heartfelt homage to director Chris Sanders. “With grace, joy, heart, skill, and deep respect for the artistry of each and every person on The Wild Robot crew, our director @chrissandersart led the making of this film,” Nyong’o wrote. Sanders is the type of leader who “warmly inspires everyone to be more than they were programmed to be, as Roz would put it”.

Sanders, who is renowned for his work on classic movies like How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch, contributed a special fusion of vision and warmth to the production. The Wild Robot, which he directed, has received praise for its breathtaking animation, poignant story, and deft handling of issues of humanity, resiliency, and belonging via the perspective of a robot’s wilderness adventure.

Nyong’o called the nomination a “Oscar nomination accomplished!” and congratulated the whole team behind The Wild Robot. A skilled group of animators and a star-studded cast completed the film’s creative team, bringing Roz’s endearing tale to life.
