Guardiola of Manchester City needs help, according to Chelsea manager Maresca

After Manchester City’s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League knockout round were threatened by a record of only two victories in seven European games, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca rallied around Pep Guardiola and claimed the struggling manager needs help.

On Saturday, Chelsea will go to the Premier League champions, who are now in fifth place and two points behind Maresca’s team in fourth place, following a poor run in the build-up to Christmas.

With one game left in the league phase, City is still not entirely recovered from their unexpected downturn, and their 4-2 loss to Paris St. Germain on Wednesday, in which they blew a two-goal lead, has left them outside of the Champions League playoff spots.

“Pep is capable of handling this type of situation. However, Maresca told reporters on Friday that he needed help right now, just like any other human being, because they have been in control for the past eight or nine years.

In order to maintain their aspirations, City, now ranked 25th in the Champions League rankings, must place in the top 24. In all of his management career, Guardiola has made it to the competition’s knockout stage.

Maresca stated that even with their bad play, Chelsea will have a hard time defeating City. In addition to their recent slide, Maresca’s team has only won one of their previous six league games, while City has won three.

“When they are going through a tough time, these players and this club want to show off their skills. He stated, “I don’t believe there is ever a good time to play City.”

“Living through such circumstances is common in football. Without a doubt, they will soon resume winning trophies.

Having served as a coach at City before departing to become manager of Parma, Maresca has a lengthy connection with the team.

He claimed he will always be grateful to City for hiring him as an assistant to Guardiola during their treble-winning season in 2022–2023 after being fired by the Italian team.

“Pep and the club and I have a great relationship. After two or three months, I was fired by an Italian club, but City called me back, so I will always be grateful for their faith in me,” he continued.

Romeo Lavia, the midfielder, will be out for Saturday’s game versus City due to injury, according to Maresca. However, Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill, who were absent from Monday’s 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, may be available.
