Carlos from Villa signs a three-and-a-half-year contract to join Fenerbahce

Diego Carlos, a defender for Aston Villa, signed a 3-1/2-year contract with Fenerbahce, the Turkish Super Lig team said Thursday.

According to media sources, the 31-year-old Brazilian paid 10 million euros ($10.40 million) to join the Jose Mourinho-coached team in Istanbul.

Carlos last played on December 30. Since joining Villa from Sevilla in 2022, he has made 40 Premier League appearances.

Later on Thursday, Fenerbahce will play Olympique Lyonnais in the Europa League. At number 22 in the 36-team standings, they are one position above the elimination spots and in the running for a postseason berth.

Fenerbahce hosts Goztepe on Sunday and is now six points behind Galatasaray in the Super Lig.

$1 is equivalent to 0.9617 euros.
