Six people are killed and 31 injured in a fire at a Turkish ski resort hotel

Six people are killed and thirty-one injured in a fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort hotel in Turkey; the reason is still being investigated.

Turkish official television TRT reports that a major fire at a ski resort hotel in northwest Turkey has killed six people and wounded thirty-one others.

Early on Tuesday, the catastrophe happened at the Kartalkaya ski resort in the province of Bolu.

Around 3:30 a.m. local time (0030 GMT), the fire broke out on the fourth level of the eleven-story hotel, which also contains its restaurant.

According to Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin, hours later, firemen were still fighting the fire.

While authorities have acknowledged an investigation is ongoing, they have not yet identified the cause of the incident. According to Aydin, “we are trying to find out what caused the fire, which started on the restaurant floor.”

234 visitors were lodging at the hotel at the time of the event.

In order to evacuate the premises and treat the injured, emergency personnel moved quickly.
