Yemi Alade releases the “Baddie Remix” featuring Konshens and Femi One
Yemi Alade, the Grammy-nominated Afropop phenomenon, has released the much awaited remix of her smash song “Baddie,” which features Jamaican artist Konshens and Kenyan artist Femi One. Through a blend of Afrobeats, Hip Hop, and Dancehall, the cross-continental cooperation published under the Effyzzie Music Group brings together the Caribbean and Africa.
The award-winning Ovie-directed music video, which was shot in Kenya and Miami, brilliantly captures Yemi Alade’s worldwide vibe and enhances the song’s appeal on a global scale. The music is brought to life by Ovie’s imaginative vision, which combines contemporary aesthetics, cultural aspects, and cityscapes. The celebrities’ unquestionable chemistry, distinct style, and cultural and musical influence are all highlighted in the video.
With yet another incredible remix, Yemi Alade, who is renowned for her strong voice and compelling stage presence, solidifies her status as one of Africa’s leading music exporters. Kenyan rapper Femi One contributes her trademark ferocious lyrics to the song, while dancehall powerhouse Konshens gives the remix his distinctively Jamaican flavor.
Yemi Alade discussed the cross-border collaboration, saying, “I’m a big fan of Konshens, and we connected via Instagram DM and made good music.” One of my favorite female MCs has always been Femi One. I’m glad we created this remix.
“Being a part of ‘Baddie Remix’ is a milestone,” Femi One continued. It has been an incredible experience working with Yemi and Konshens, and I can’t wait for the world to hear what we have produced. This is a feeling rather than just a tune!
Reiterating the enthusiasm, Konshens said, “This remix is hot! Being on the same track with two of Africa’s nasty guys is an honor for me. Together, Yemi and Femi gave it their all, and we produced a fantastic song that embodies the finest of Africa and the Caribbean.
Yemi Alade’s first solo Grammy nomination for her popular track “Tomorrow” from her album “Rebel Queen,” which also contains the tune “Baddie Remix,” comes just after this release. The gift of tomorrow is the greatest need and desire for every person on the planet, according to Yemi Alade, who adds, “Tomorrow is about my inner thoughts, desires, and prayers.”
Yemi’s position in the international music industry has been further cemented by the critical accolades her “Rebel Queen” CD has earned for its daring topics and avant-garde sound. Yemi will participate in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, February 2, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
According to Yemi, “The Rebel Queen album is an album that never stops giving; each song is a melodic and rhythmic fragment of my life’s journey.” Seeing my folks relate to any of the songs brings me unimaginable delight. I’m grateful that we have rocked together throughout the years. I’ll make sure it continues.
