Guardiola calls Haaland’s 10-year deal “exceptional news” for City
Erling Haaland’s 10-year deal with Manchester City is great news for the team, according to manager Pep Guardiola, and shows how trusted the Norway international is by the reigning Premier League winners.
Earlier on Friday, Haaland, who has scored 111 goals in 126 games for City in all competitions and was the league’s top scorer for the previous two seasons, pledged to stay with the team until he is 34.
“This is wonderful news for the club and for all of us. Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Ipswich Town, Guardiola told reporters, “One player decided to sign this type of contract he never did before, because he wants to show how desperately he wants to be here.”
“The club has faith in him since they are aware of his professionalism and dedication to showcasing his skills in every game and every day.
Guardiola claimed that when Haaland signed the deal, he was driven by his passion for City.
“With his wife, he is now a father, and he loves the club, the people around him, and the Premier League. He loves being here.” “There is no better place I could be right now and in the next ten years, I think he visualized,” he continued.
Guardiola said that Haaland’s long-term deal will improve team spirit as sixth-place City attempts to turn around their league performance following a poor run in the build-up to Christmas.
The manager went on to say, “He is definitely helping me become a better manager.”
