Jesus of Arsenal is out due to a possible ACL injury

Gabriel Jesus, a Brazilian forward for Arsenal, is expected to be out for a long time after sustaining what is believed to be an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, British media reported Tuesday.

Before the first half of Sunday’s FA Cup match between Arsenal and Manchester United, which Mikel Arteta’s team lost on penalties, Jesus, 27, exited the field on a stretcher.

“Now we have additional information. It does not appear to be good. We will receive more accurate information this afternoon after consulting with another specialist,” Arteta said at a press briefing prior to Wednesday’s Premier League match between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

“I want to wait until this afternoon to confirm anything until we have the final report. After the game, we were rather anxious, and we are still quite anxious today.

In December, Jesus scored a double against Crystal Palace, his first league goals of the season. On New Year’s Day, he scored another goal in a victory against Brentford. Jesus had just lately found his scoring groove.

Last month, he also scored a hat-trick in a League Cup quarterfinal matchup with Palace. After Manchester City won four league championships, Jesus joined Arsenal in 2022.

Arsenal may now try to sign a new striker during the January transfer window, but the boss says they may need to make other investments.

“There are additional problems for us. A player can contribute in a variety of ways to a team. We are working on it,” Arteta stated.

“To strengthen the team, we are aggressively searching the market. To not do that would be foolish. There is a chance to strengthen the team.

After Kai Havertz’s penalty was saved in Sunday’s shootout, which resulted in Arsenal’s elimination from the FA Cup in the third round, Arteta also discussed the online hatred the striker had to endure.

To be honest, it’s great. “We really need to take action,” Arteta stated.

“Hiding and accepting this has dire repercussions. There is a need to remove it from the game.

Kai Havertz scored the game-winning goal as we defeated them 1-0 on December 27. It was twenty days ago. What’s the viewpoint, guys? The story we tell and the way we speak are all our responsibility.

In the north London derby against Spurs, who are in 12th place, Arsenal, who are now in second place in the league standings and six points behind Liverpool, who have a game left, will play.

“It is the nicest game of the season to watch and play because of the atmosphere and what it means to the people, us and everyone that is involved,” said Arteta.

“The atmosphere is something the fans can help with and something we can do by giving them something to feed off.”
