Tyler Perry does not support insurance companies’ decision to withdraw from fire-prone regions at a time when they are most needed.
Following the catastrophic conflagration in Los Angeles, Perry utilized Instagram to express his frustration regarding the events he had observed.
Perry described the experience as “gut-wrenching” when she observed her daughter use a garden sprinkler to attempt to safeguard her 90-year-old parents’ property after their insurance was canceled.
“Does anyone else find it appalling that insurance companies can extract billions of dollars from communities for years and then, all of a sudden, be permitted to cancel millions of policies for the very people they profited from?”
He did not spare words when he denounced the “pure greed” of insurers who collect billions in premiums for years but abandon consumers when disaster strikes.
The fires resulted in the tragic loss of over 20 lives and billions of dollars in damages. Large insurers, such as State Farm, have declined to renew thousands of policies in high-risk zones, causing homeowners in areas such as Pacific Palisades and Altadena to feel abandoned.
Perry explicitly stated that he is actively seeking methods to provide assistance. “I am diligently determining the most effective course of action to assist as many individuals as possible, and I am keeping everyone in my thoughts,” he stated.
At present, it is yet another instance in which the interests of large corporations are prioritized over those of the general populace.
