Mel Gibson says that while filming Joe Rogan’s podcast, his $14.5 million mansion burned down to “nothing”
Mel Gibson disclosed that the $14.5 million Malibu property he owned was destroyed by the devastating wildfires that are ravaging Los Angeles.
The fire destroyed the actor’s house while he was taping an episode of Joe Rogan’s well-known podcast, leaving him to return home to “nothing.”
As he presented his theory regarding the catastrophe, Mel Gibson criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for failing to “take care of the forest.”
While filming Joe Rogan’s podcast, Mel Gibson loses his Malibu home.
While taping Rogan’s podcast in Austin, Texas, Gibson lost his house to the continuing fires in Los Angeles.
In an emotional interview with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports, the “Mad Max” star remembered coming home to “nothing” after first questioning whether his house was still intact.
It’s obviously quite terrible. According to the Daily Mail, Gibson stated, “It’s emotional.” “I was working on the Rogan show. While we were conversing, I felt a little uneasy because I heard my neighborhood was on fire and wondered if my apartment was still there.
And sure enough, it wasn’t there when I arrived home,” he added. When I arrived home, I thought, “Well, at least I don’t have any of those annoying plumbing issues anymore.”
The filmmaker expresses gratitude for life.
The director of “Passion of the Christ” described how everything he owned was destroyed by the wildfires and lamented his own loss.
Though he acknowledged that everything he lost might be replaced, he was thankful that he and his loved ones were safe.
“I had a lot of personal things there that, you know, I can’t get back,” he complained. “All kinds of stuff, everything from photographs to files to, you know, you know, just personal things that I had from over the years, and clothing, you know, pretty cool stuff, you know, but you know that can all be replaced.”
“These are merely objects. The good news is that everyone in my family and those I love are doing well, and we’re all content, healthy, and safe. That’s all I really care about,” Gibson said.
Mel Gibson wanted to get rid of his house.
Gibson was trying to sell the expansive 5.5-acre mansion with a view of the Pacific Ocean when the awful incident occurred.
The Daily Mail claims that after buying the house for $11.5 million in 2008, he even cut his original asking price of $17.5 million by $3 million.
With a concentration on stone and wood paneling, the multi-estate home had five bedrooms and other opulent amenities in a Medieval style.
The “Braveheart” star told Rogan how his son, Milo, who serves in the Malibu firefighters’ volunteer squad, emailed him a video of his area “in flames,” which he described as a “inferno.”
Gibson said that he “loves it there” and is not in risk of homelessness when the controversial podcast host asked him whether he would think about leaving California after the fire. Additionally, he revealed that he owns a home in Costa Rica.
He even made a joke about possibly getting “a new house” out of the issue, according to the news outlet.
Governor Newsom is held accountable by the director for the fires.
In other segments of the broadcast, the “What Women Want” star criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for failing to fulfill campaign pledges and for the state’s lack of readiness to prevent the disaster.
“I think Newsom said, ‘I’m gonna take care of the forest and maintain the forest and do all that kinda stuff’ — he didn’t do anything,” Gibson added.
After expressing agreement with the presenter, he said, “I think all our tax dollars probably went to Gavin’s hair gel.”
Ten people have died as a result of the terrible destruction, and hundreds of others have been evacuated and displaced.
Other Celebrities Who Were Displaced by the Wildfires
Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, Jeff Bridges, Bozoma Saint John, Billy Crystal, James Woods, Diane Warren, and Milo Ventimiglia were among the other celebrities that lost their houses in the fires in addition to Gibson.
Anthony Hopkins, a legendary actor, lost a gorgeous property with four bedrooms and five bathrooms that he had paid $6 million for in 2021.
Not so fortunate were actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, who lost their $7 million home in which they resided with their two young daughters.
The homes of reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, as well as actress Anna Faris’s $5 million eco-friendly mansion, were also totally destroyed by the fire.
