Morocco saw 17.4 million visitors in 2024, a 20% increase from 2023
According to the tourism ministry on Thursday, Morocco welcomed a record 17.4 million visitors in 2024, up 20% from the year before. Nearly half of these visitors were Moroccans residing outside.
About 7% of the North African nation’s GDP comes from tourism, which also provides a significant amount of foreign exchange and jobs.
According to a statement from the ministry, this year’s arrivals were two years ahead of schedule. By 2030, when Morocco co-hosts the World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, it anticipates receiving 26 million tourists.
Morocco has promoted new domestic travel destinations, encouraged hotel renovations, and introduced more air routes to important tourist markets.
Morocco’s foreign currency regulator reports that tourism revenue increased 7.2% to a record 104 billion dirhams between January and November.
