Neymar claims the 2026 World Cup will be his final appearance and alludes to a reunion with Messi and Suarez

As his Al-Hilal contract comes to an end, Brazilian star Neymar stated that rejoining his old Barcelona colleagues Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami is an intriguing possibility and did not rule out a move to the United States.

Neymar was once one of the most feared attackers in football. He led Barcelona to a historic treble alongside Messi and Suarez before moving to Paris St. Germain in 2017 for a record-breaking 222 million euros ($230.39 million).

“Obviously, it would be amazing to play with Messi and Suarez once more. We still communicate, therefore they are my buddies,” Neymar told CNN.

“Reviving this trio would be intriguing. I’m content in Saudi Arabia and at Al-Hilal, but who knows? Surprises abound in football.

Since joining Al-Hilal from PSG in 2023 for an estimated 90 million euros, Neymar has only appeared seven times, and injuries have kept the Brazilian out of action for extended periods of time. In June, his contract expires.

He scored 118 goals throughout his six seasons with PSG, but despite his tremendous domestic success, he was unable to win the Champions League with the French team again before moving to the Saudi Pro League.

“When the news came out that I was leaving Paris St Germain, the transfer window was closed in the United States, so I didn’t have this option (of moving to Miami in 2023),” Neymar said.

“The project they offered me (in Saudi Arabia) was very good, not just for me but also for my family, so going to Saudi Arabia was the best option.”

With 79 goals, Neymar is Brazil’s all-time leading scorer. The 32-year-old stated that 2026 would be his final chance to win a World Cup.

Brazil ranks sixth in the rankings with six rounds remaining in the South American qualifications, where the top six finishers automatically advance.

“I want to be there, so I’ll try. Neymar, who hasn’t played since rupturing the meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a qualifier in October 2023, declared, “I will do everything in my power to be a member of the national team.”

“I know this be my last World Cup, my last shot, my last chance and I will do everything I can to play in it.”

$1 is equivalent to 0.9636 euros.
