Amorim calls on Man Utd’s leaders to take charge

In the face of a string of disappointing performances, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim called on the team’s leaders to step up and support players who are “too afraid” to go on the field.

United has lost five of their past six league games and is currently in 14th place in the standings after struggling since Amorim took over in November.

Amorim told reporters, “They (players) are sometimes afraid on the pitch,” prior to a trip to Liverpool, the league leaders on Sunday.

Thus, we must deal with that. I am the person most responsible for improving the performances, and we need the leaders to stand up and support the other people.

You notice that the players are making an effort. This is a challenging period, therefore sometimes they are too nervous and scared to play football.”

Managing United, which is regarded as one of the most difficult positions in the Premier League, has taken a toll on Amorim.

“You can see in my face, you can compare the way I arrived and now,” expressed the Portuguese.

You are under a lot of strain when you are losing, of course. The issues, poor performances, and losses are difficult to handle.

“It is expected to be quite difficult. Training with the players is my only option, and since my family has moved here, it’s a whole new experience that can help.”
