According to Ancelotti, Vinicius, a Real Madrid player, will be exempt from suspension
Manager Carlo Ancelotti stated on Sunday that Real Madrid is confident Vinicius Jr. won’t be suspended after the team appealed his straight red card during their 2-1 comeback victory against Valencia last week.
Vinicius will fly to Cartagena for Monday’s Copa del Rey match against Deportiva Minera, the Italian coach revealed.
During Friday’s La Liga match, the Brazilian striker was sent off for slapping Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. Ancelotti is optimistic that the 24-year-old will not even receive the minimum two-game suspension for his red card.
The 65-year-old manager told reporters, “We hope he won’t be suspended because it wasn’t a red, but a yellow.”
Ancelotti went on to say that Vinicius, who is Black, is experiencing a great deal of mental stress as a result of past instances of racial taunts in Spain.
“Being in his position is challenging. Putting up with everything he experiences, even the taunts, is difficult. He’s working to get better, but it’s not easy.
He has shown regret and is angry about it, but we must go on,” he continued.
“We’re hoping he won’t be suspended. Thibaut Courtois, the goalie, and Antonio Rudiger, the defender, are the only two who are not on the road. The others are all on the road.
Ancelotti went on to say that he didn’t mind the new Copa del Rey rules, which require La Liga teams to start with at least seven members of their first team.
“I have no issue with this rule, but we must abide by it. “Those who have played less should get more minutes,” he continued.
Ancelotti stated that his team is trying to improve their performance from the penalty spot after Real Madrid missed three of their last four attempts, including two from Kylian Mbappe.
“It’s a very challenging technological aspect to handle. “The stadium atmosphere is what changes, even though there are good penalty takers,” the Italian continued.
“I also want to explain the situation to us (about penalty takers).” I’ll explain before the game. It might be Arda Guler, Jude (Bellingham), Mbappe, or Vinicius. We’ll see my feelings.
