South Korean investigators have requested that the interim president facilitate Yoon’s arrest
South Korean investigators once more requested that the acting president of the country direct the presidential security service to comply with an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday.
In a six-hour confrontation within Yoon’s compound, the security service and military personnel on Friday hindered prosecutors from apprehending Yoon Suk Yeol. An arrest warrant was obtained by the investigators to apprehend Yoon for his brief declaration of martial law last month.
On Saturday, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials, which is currently conducting an investigation into the matter, announced that it had once again requested that acting President Choi Sang-mok, the nation’s finance minister, direct the presidential security service to comply with the warrant.
Commentary was declined by a spokesperson for the finance ministry.
According to Yonhap News, the police requested that Park Chong-jun, the chief of the presidential security service, undergo interrogation on Tuesday.
The martial declaration issued by Yoon on December 3rd was a shock to South Korea and resulted in the first arrest warrant for a sitting president.
