Silva claims Man City is not capable of winning the Premier League title
With the defending champions behind leaders Liverpool by 14 points, Manchester City’s ambitions of winning the Premier League title are all but gone, according to midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Despite winning the English Premier League for a record four times in a row previous season, City has had a difficult season and is currently sixth in the standings after winning just two of their last ten league games.
This season, injuries have plagued Pep Guardiola’s club, with multiple players missing extended periods of action and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri out for the remainder of the campaign.
“It’s about embracing reality right now. I am not considering Liverpool. In a Thursday interview with Sky Sports, Silva stated, “I can’t be looking at Liverpool or Arsenal because I’m sixth in the league.”
“In an attempt to win three points, I’m watching the upcoming game… There are no impossibles in football, so I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, but Manchester City is currently out of the running for the championship; there’s no doubt about it; it’s too late for us.
You can lose the league, but they say you can’t win it until January. In actuality, we have lost it this season.
Prior to their FA Cup matchup with fourth-tier Salford City on January 11, City will face 13th-place West Ham United in a league game on Saturday.
