An American Army veteran was identified as the bomber in the Tesla cybertruck explosion outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas
Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Colorado Springs, Colorado, U.S. Army veteran, has been identified as the driver of the deadly Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Seven spectators were hurt in the flaming explosion, which claimed Livelsberger’s life. When the hired electric truck exploded on New Year’s Day, authorities discovered it was loaded with pyrotechnics, gas canisters, and camping gasoline.
Tesla’s telemetry data was used to monitor the automobile, which was rented through the car-sharing website Turo, from Colorado to Nevada. The FBI is currently searching many Colorado Springs locations connected to Livelsberger as part of their ongoing investigation into the veteran’s past. According to law enforcement authorities, Livelsberger spent almost twenty years in the military, mostly with special forces. According to reports, autonomous systems management was the main focus of his previous position.
The incident has been likened to another attack that occurred on New Year’s Day in New Orleans, where a horrific explosion involving a rented electric Ford truck killed fifteen people and injured numerous others. Because Livelsberger and the New Orleans suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, allegedly served at the same military base, authorities are looking into a potential connection between the drivers of the two trucks, which were hired through Turo.
In his response to the incident, Tesla CEO Elon Musk emphasized that the Cybertruck’s design prevented the lobby of the Trump hotel from being damaged by rerouting the explosion upstairs. Musk provided surveillance footage from charging stations along the truck’s path and remotely unlocked the vehicle as part of Tesla’s assistance with investigators.
Federal authorities, such as the FBI and ATF, are following leads in several states and abroad as part of ongoing investigations to ascertain if the two attacks on New Year’s Day were coordinated. President Joe Biden described the investigations as “fluid” and promised to update the public when new information becomes available.
