NYPD says 10 people were injured in a shooting in New York City

In a news briefing early Thursday, the New York Police Department reported that a mass shooting in the Queens borough of New York City late on New Year’s Day had left ten people injured.

Six women and four men were among the injured in the late Wednesday night incident outside a private events club; according to police, all were expected to recover.

According to the NYPD, three or four men opened fire on a gathering outside the club. Social media users shared images of the police presence at the scene and expressed outrage at the incident.

A terrorist attack was ruled out by the police.

The incident occurred just hours after two other violent incidents that occurred on New Year’s Day in other parts of the United States. A Tesla vehicle exploded outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person and injured seven more. In New Orleans, a truck crashed into a street full with New Year’s celebrations, killing fifteen people.

In addition to looking into any terrorism-related factors, U.S. police were rushing to find suspects in the New Orleans and Las Vegas incidents.
