Tesla will update software for 77,650 cars built in China, according to a market watchdog

China’s market regulator announced on Tuesday that Tesla (TSLA.O) will open a new tab to patch software in 77,650 Model 3 and Model Y cars built in China due to safety threats.

According to the agency, the action is classified as a product recall under Chinese standards because of software flaws that can prevent the monitored tire pressure from being shown as soon as the vehicle starts. It was unclear at first whether drivers would need to return cars to Tesla for a refund or if they would be eligible to do so.

Due to problems with the driver’s frontal airbag, the American electric vehicle manufacturer is also recalling 63 imported Model S and Model X vehicles from China.
