Gomez of Liverpool will be out for a while due to a hamstring injury
After suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 5-0 thumping of West Ham United, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez will be sidelined for a while, according to manager Arne Slot.
Just before halftime at the London Stadium, Jarell Quansah took the place of the 27-year-old England international. Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool’s first-choice center back, is already out by injury.
“You witnessed Joe Gomez’s injury today. Slot told Sky Sports that a player must be changed if he expresses a desire to stop.
“We all know it’s a hamstring injury during a sprint, and we all know it will take some time for him to recover. He will be away for a while, but I’m not sure how long.”
Liverpool now leads the Premier League by eight points after the victory. On Sunday, they will welcome Manchester United at Anfield.
