Elon Musk is being criticized for supporting a post that said right-leaning Americans were “too retarded” for skilled jobs
An ally of Trump Elon Musk Draws Criticism for His Divisive Statements on American Workers and H-1B Visas
Elon Musk, a billionaire and ardent admirer of Donald Trump, is coming under fire for promoting a tweet on Thursday that said Americans are too “retarded” to be employed in professional positions. The remark was made by the South African-born CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and X (previously Twitter) after a contentious online discussion over H-1B visas and the preference for foreign workers over American ones.
When a pro-Musk account published a controversial analysis of the differences among right-wing groups over immigrant labor, the uproar began. According to the essay, the “right right” concentrates on employing Americans but ignores the dearth of training possibilities, while the “tech right” prioritizes recruiting foreign workers through H-1B visas because they believe Americans lack skills. “You can’t out train being retarded,” the message concluded.
Hours after supporting one of his engineers who had been criticized for posting racist and anti-White remarks, Musk said, “That pretty much sums it up.” “This was eye-opening,” Musk continued, adding to the criticism of his position on the matter.
Vivek Ramaswamy, Musk’s co-chair in the recently established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), added fuel to the fire by arguing that American workers are brought up in a “culture of mediocrity” and should be avoided by American employers. Numerous people, especially Trump supporters, denounced Ramaswamy’s comments.
Trump supporters are worried about Musk and Ramaswamy’s involvement in the second Trump administration as a result of the endorsements and remarks. President-elect Trump named both to head DOGE last month, a decision that was first hailed for emphasizing efficiency and technological innovation.
However, many have questioned whether Musk and Ramaswamy’s opinions are in line with the interests and values of Trump’s constituency in light of their contentious statements this week.
Supporters of Trump are demanding that the pair’s role in the government and their impact on immigration and labor laws be reexamined as the reaction intensifies.
