Bongo Songbird Zuchu’s debut album, “Peace And Money,” is released
Zuchu, a Tanzanian Bongo Flava phenomenon, has released Peace and Money, her eagerly awaited debut album. Since her breakthrough EP I Am Zuchu and her 2020 partnership with Diamond Platnumz, this is her first full-length body of work.
The 13-track CD that was just released is evidence of Zuchu’s development as an artist and her ability to combine a variety of musical genres. The album demonstrates her diversity while remaining grounded in her cultural roots, incorporating aspects of Afrobeat, Bongo Flava, Singeli, and modern genres.
Peace and Money has a wide range of partnerships that increase its allure. One particularly powerful anthem is the catchy Wale Wale, which features her longtime mentor Diamond Platnumz. Zuchu and Kenya’s renowned band H_Art The Band collaborate with the lively Tinini to create a musical experience that transcends cultural boundaries. Other noteworthy appearances include the sensual Lollipop with Afrobeat artist Yemi Alade, the poignant Till I Die with Nigerian superstar Spyro, and the unrepentant I Don’t Care with South African hitmaker Sho Madjozi. The album’s varied roster is given a musical touch by Majeed’s beautiful Lullaby.
Zuchu delves deeply into her personal experience in her solo contributions. Themes of love, resiliency, and introspection are explored in songs like Mama and Nimechoka. Meanwhile, energetic songs like Makonzi and Antenna are certain to light up dance floors all over the continent. Zuchu’s capacity to innovate while staying culturally grounded is demonstrated by the highlight song Mwizi, which skillfully combines modern Afrobeat influences with classic Swahili melodies.
