Tanzania qualifies for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating South Sudan

The CECAFA Zone will be represented by Uganda and Tanzania in the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

Tanzania defeated South Sudan 4-0 and Uganda defeated Somalia 4-1 in the semi-final matches held at the Nakivubo Hamz Stadium in Kampala on Tuesday, securing qualifying for both teams.

Hussein Mbegu, Ng’habi Zamu, and Abel Josiah Samson gave Tanzania a 3-0 lead in the first half of the game.Despite their best efforts, the South Sudanese squad was unable to overcome the Tanzanian side after the break.

After 52 minutes, substitute Juma Abushiri gave Tanzania a 4-0 lead. Afterwards, defender Idrisa Kilendewo handled the ball in the box, giving South Sudan a penalty after 67 minutes.

Abrahman Massoro, a Tanzanian goalie, stopped Lazarus Peter George Laku’s penalty attempt.
