Oscar, a Brazilian midfielder, returns to São Paulo

Oscar, a former midfielder for Chelsea, has agreed to a three-year deal return to Sao Paulo, the Brazilian Serie A team said on Tuesday.

Oscar, who played 48 games for Brazil’s national team from 2011 to 2016, has been at Shanghai Port for the past eight seasons, where he has won three Chinese Super League titles.

“I’m happy to be back in Brazil and to be able to play for Sao Paulo, which is the club where I started out, where I made my base and where I grew up,” the 33-year-old stated in a statement.

During his four-and-a-half-year tenure at Chelsea, Oscar won the Premier League, League Cup, and Europa League championships while scoring 38 goals in 203 games.

He started playing professionally in 2008 at Sao Paulo before moving to Internacional in 2010, which resulted in a protracted contract dispute between the two Brazilian teams.
