T.D. Jakes Disrupts AI Diddy Misinformation Videos, Files Requests for YouTube Account Identities
Bishop T.D. Jakes is taking unprecedented measures to combat the AI-fueled YouTube misinformation that has been used to associate him with scandals such as Diddy’s downfall. According to Jakes’ legal team, the video platform has neglected to enforce its own policies, which have prompted them to take action.
On December 19, attorney Dustin Pusch submitted a motion in the Northern District of California with the intention of subpoenaing Google, the parent company of YouTube, in order to discover the individual(s) responsible for the YouTube accounts that purportedly disseminate inaccurate information regarding the Bishop. The accounts are purportedly situated in Kenya, the Philippines, Pakistan, and South Africa.
According to the court filing, the account disseminated inaccurate information about Jakes by employing AI-generated content. YouTube has recently implemented initiatives that promote the use of AI, as reported by NBC. Nevertheless, the hazards have emerged. The potential misinformation is a significant concern; however, it is exacerbated by the fact that the creators profit from it. According to the publication, a YouTube creator (who is not named in this lawsuit) acknowledged utilizing the technology.
Bishop Jakes is the subject of numerous AI-generated videos, which collectively garner millions of views. The content has attracted significant attention as additional information regarding Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has previously been associated with Jakes, is disclosed.
Combs has been the subject of public scrutiny since October 2023, when his former companion, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, filed a lawsuit against him, alleging sexual assault and abuse. This information was previously reported. The dispute was resolved without litigation for an undisclosed sum. Subsequently, numerous additional individuals have submitted claims for compensation. This resulted in his detention in September on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Many Black personalities, including Bishop Jakes, have been the subject of social media investigations since the disgraced music mogul was exposed for his alleged crimes. According to NBC, there are numerous videos featuring AI-generated content that is intended for individuals such as Steve Harvey, Denzel Washington, and Jakes. Jakes (and others) are apprehended, as well as other salacious content, in the videos and thumbnails.
Although the videos have been reported to YouTube, not all of them have been removed. Additionally, it does not impede the production of additional items.
