The president of Tanzania suggests digital licenses after a morning accident claims 15 lives
Following an accident that killed 15 persons in the morning of Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu has recommended strict regulations for drivers’ registration.
Suluhu proposed a digital license in a statement on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in which negligent drivers will lose points from their licenses each time they cause an accident or violate traffic laws.
Along with expressing sympathy to the families of the departed, Suluhu urged law enforcement to increase traffic policing and stressed the importance of drivers exercising caution.
When kuboresha mfumo wa sasa ambao mara nyingi dereva hulipa faini pekee na kuachwa kuendelea kuwepo barabarani, here is what it means.
The same method was first implemented in Kenya in 2017 by NTSA, however it was said that it will be completely implemented until all divers received digital licenses.
Bus collision involving Tanzanian MPs
She emphasized that life was precious and that it was crucial to make sure that only drivers and cars fit for the road were permitted.
Only a few weeks have passed since an accident occurred on a bus transporting parliamentarians to the recently concluded East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games in Mombasa.
On Friday, December 6, 2024, 16 Tanzanian Parliament Members were hurt in an accident when one of the busses they were riding in crashed into a trailer in Dodoma to prevent a head-on collision.
16 MPs were hurt in the accident, according to a police official who spoke at the site. They were sent to several medical institutions in Dodoma, including the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital.
